Cheryl 

Cheryl has been a control assistant since January 2024.

What makes you proud in your current role?

I like going home from a shift feeling like I've made a difference. Our responders are phenomenal and really do put the 'care' into Care Link and always go the extra mile to make sure our residents are looked after.

What are your interests or hobbies outside of work?

I enjoy walking, boating, Geocaching and playing Pokémon Go! with my family.

What do you consider your biggest achievement to date?

Home educating my children for over a decade.

What is your advice to anyone considering whether Care Link might be suitable for themselves or a family member?

For peace of mind Care Link is definitely the way to go.

I consider pigeons to be thoroughly underrated.

 

Josephine

Josephine has been a control assistant for 17 years.

What makes you proud in your current role?

Supporting Care Link users when they need help, including ringing doctors, ambulances, social services, family and other organisations.

What are your interests or hobbies outside of work? 

Walking, travelling, gardening.

What do you consider your biggest achievement to date?

Supporting my parents when they both had dementia.

What is your advice to anyone considering whether Care Link might be suitable for themselves or a family member?

We offer many sensors suitable for many needs, it is reassuring for the user and relatives to know that at the activation of a sensor help can be sought giving peace of mind.

What I love!

After 17 years of doing my role, I still look forward to coming to work. No two shifts are the same. You don't know what calls you will be faced with at any time.

 

Janet

Janet spent four years in OneCALL before becoming a visiting officer for Care Link and now has seven years under her belt as a responder.

What makes you proud in your current role?

When I have responded to someone who has fallen. The rewarding feeling when they are sat in their chair, smiling and so grateful. This makes me so proud of what I do.

What are your interests or hobbies outside of work?

I play golf, like the gym and love walking.

What do you consider your biggest achievement to date?

I ran for my country as a hurdler in my teens.

What is your advice to anyone considering whether Care Link might be suitable for themselves or a family member?

I always say it gives peace of mind for the service user and their family.

I have friends and family using Care Link and would recommend the service to anyone of any age that lives alone or are vulnerable.

 

Joanne

Joanne started at Care Link in 2010 as part of the admin team before taking up a role as a visiting officer in September 2023.

What makes you proud in your current role?

I help people to remain independent in their own homes. Offering them and their families the peace of mind that if they need help they can get it at the touch of a button 24hours a day.

What are your interests or hobbies outside of work?

I enjoy live music and often attend gigs/concerts.

What do you consider your biggest achievement to date?

After being a single mum for many years, I took the step to apply for the visiting officer role, increasing my working hours to do a job role I have always wanted to do and I was successful.

What is your advice to anyone considering whether Care Link might be suitable for themselves or a family member?

Care Link is great for anyone of any age who may at times feel vulnerable. It is discreet and is great value for money.

 

Kerry

Kerry has been a Care Link officer since 2023.

What makes you proud in your current role?

Knowing that I help people that are older or vulnerable and enabling them to live as independently as possible for as long as possible in their own homes and offering themselves and their family reassurance.

What are your interests or hobbies outside of work?

Spending time with my family and friends.

What do you consider your biggest achievement to date?

Seeking out and completing further education to better myself whilst juggling work and family life.

What is your advice to anyone considering whether Care Link might be suitable for themselves or a family member?

I would highly recommend Care Link to anyone considering the service, my gran has it and the peace of mind it gives to our family is priceless.
