This spring, phone providers will be contacting more customers in our area as they switch to digital landlines.

BT is aiming to move all landline services to digital by the end of 2027. You can find out more information about the national switchover and why it is happening on the BT website.

If you are contacted by your phone provider, you’ll need to let them know if:

  • you have a care alarm, health pendant or security alarm that uses the telephone line;
  • you don’t own a mobile phone, or you don't have enough signal at home to call the emergency services in a power cut; or
  • you have a disability or any other needs that mean you need extra help with the installation.

If you are a Care Link customer, you’ll also need to contact us so we can make sure there are no interruptions in your service. You can find more advice on the questions you should ask you provider on the Ofcom website.

You can find more information about Care Link’s digital switchover on our dedicated page. If you need us, you can call us, 24 hours a day, seven days a week on 01977 788 000.

If you have questions about the digital switchover, BT will be hosting an event in Wakefield at the British Garden Centre Carr Gate (WF2 0SY) on Wednesday, 5 March 2025, between 10 am and 4 pm.
